Sustainability

Beacon maintains a strong commitment to environmentally sustainable principles, but that commitment goes beyond buzzwords like “Green Buildings” and “LEED Certified.”  It delves into the core principle of making every day decisions that respect our environment - from printing on both sides of paper to implementing comprehensive park-wide recycling programs. 

In addition to those daily initiatives, Beacon strives to limit the environmental impact of our interior construction and renovation projects using our best practices approach to limit the environmental impact of our interior construction and renovation projects.  In 2008, over 30 tons of carpet were removed from our properties and diverted from local landfills. Further, space plans for multiple-generation spaces are designed to limit the amount of demolition by saving as many existing walls as possible to save cost and to limit construction debris.  Examples of recycling programs and recent development projects that were designed to LEED standards are:
