Recycling Programs
- Eco Friendly Lighting Beacon Partners currently uses eco friendly fluorescent bulbs that have a low content of mercury in our Charlotte office buildings. In addition, we recycle them to reduce landfill waste. The process to recycle bulbs is pretty easy - companies who recycle bulbs have self contained machines that do all the work. The machine removes the mercury from the bulb and puts it into an air tight tube without releasing the gas into the environment. Then the machine will separate the phosphor powder, glass and metal end caps. All of these items can be re-used.
- Trash Removal Several of Beacon’s office parks in Charlotte have adopted an easy way for tenants to recycle - by simply doing nothing! The recycling program is simple because it requires no extra steps on the tenant’s part - all of the sorting is done by the recycling company. The ArrowPoint Office Park, Atrium Corporate Center and Harris Corners Corporate Park properties use Charlotte-based Plyler Paper for their trash removal. Plyler Paper provides dumpsters for all of the waste and recyclables for each of the facilities. The dumpsters are emptied each week, where the content is then transported to their warehouse and sorted by hand. Items that are recycled include: cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, phonebooks. white paper, magazines, colored paper and glass containers. Plyler Paper is able to recycle 68% of the material that comes into their warehouse.
